That's what saddens me, there is no real remembrance for Farrah. She aired a very vulnerable and weak time in her life, and nobody is giving her anything about it. As for Jackson.. I respect what he did in music, and style, and his part in the evolution of music, but other then that I feel nothing.
Thank you for mentioning Farrah. I was thinking this morning - it will be like Anna Nicole's death - it will be "news" for a year. Sheesh.
I think he got more press because his death was more shocking and he's affected the entertainment world more than Farrah did. Though I don't know about there but here most coverage DOES include the negative about his life not just the positive. Also most has included that Farrah died too or included people who knew both so they could at least mention her and MSNBC did an hour remembrance for her after their hour for him tonight.
Well, it's a bit more than 2 good albums in the 80s. One of them is the best selling album of all time ;)

But I agree. There were way too many controversies surrounding his lifestyle for me to be really mourning.

"Another pop icon is dead, but do we really care?"

Yeah. I care. I was a HUGE fan during the Off the Wall era and then Thriller blew my mind. I have been very interested in music videos ever since. For me, MJ was very defining back in the day - in fact I could probably chronicle my childhood by his rise to superstardom - but I can understand why the kids now have a harder time recognising his influence.

May the poor bloke rest in bloody peace.

PS: I also mourn Farrah. Again, Charlies Angles was a big part of my growing up and her with it. God knows how often I burned my hair trying to get the perfect 'flicks'. It feels so strange to have two such influential people 'removed' all at once. :(
The first thing I said when I heard MJ had died was "good, now the little boys are safe again" I know it's rude but I don't care, the man was freaky.
I'm just waiting for someone to do a computer rendering of what he should have looked like at his age, how he would have matured if all that surgery hadn't turned him into a bleached, nose-less, oddity.
I agree with you Squillie that MJ was an amazing artist in the 80's and he did define that era of music, but since then he just became a weirdo.

I read in the papers today that he only weighed 8st when he died and was utterly unrecognisable from the man he was due to the facial scaring and alopecia brought on by constant drug use.
